CRAVINGS

A few days ago I was craving Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge.  I didn't have a recipe for it so I Googled it and found a wonderful recipe from Food.com

The recipe calls for 2 cups of sugar, 3 tablespoons of cocoa, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 cup of peanut butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring.  I used skim milk and my own homemade pure vanilla extract.
In a saucepan, bring to a rapid boil for 1 minute, the sugar, cocoa and milk.  pour over the peanut butter and vanilla and beat for about 1 minute until it thickens then put out onto a buttered platter or pan. Let it cool. Make sure you have the peanut butter and vanilla in the mixer before you start boiling the cocoa mixture.   This recipe is very easy and I was eating the creamy, delicious fudge within minutes of pouring it out on the platter!

QUILT TRAIL

The Quilt Trail on Pleasant View Road

Have you been to Ohio and seen the Quilt Trail?  The trail is barns in Ohio that have had Quilt patterns painted on them.  Visit http://www.firstohio.com/quilt/ to find out more.

The barn pictured above is on my son's farm.  His wife painted the three 2x2 foot plywood pieces
and Andy hung them over barn doors.  When I saw Michelle painting the quilt patterns I exclaimed,
"No fair!  I was going to do that!"  And I am still going to paint some for my home.  However,
Michelle did a great job and has inspired me to start painting soon.  But I had to share her work.
I LOVE quilts and have several hanging in my home and on the beds.  I will share pictures of those  soon.

What are your favorite patterns?  What unusual places have you seen quilts/ quilt patterns?

My Deceitful Desires

I often read a devotion from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.
Today's entry included the following scripture:

"You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."  Ephesians 4:22-24

WOW!  The words deceitful desires ...of my mind...hit me as though I had been slapped!  I have always had very strong opinions about what is right and wrong, what should or shouldn't be done, etc.  Over the winter I told myself I do not need to be in anyone's face about a lot of opinions, and share experiences of the older and wiser me.  And I have been better BUT NOT IN MY MIND!
So I acknowledged today that I had the deceitful desire to be right!  To know what some others did wrong and should do right and so forth.  It is good to act more like Jesus, but God wants us to think inn the attitude of our minds, like Jesus!
This is all hard for me to put into words but like I said, I felt like I had been slapped or knocked over.
I had to share, just in case you are like me.

Something else to ponder; try rereading scripture that doesn't strongly speak to you one day, again at another time.  Don't you find that as you grow in The Lord, scripture passages give you different insights.

I am learning to deal with my deceitful desires in a very humbling way.  Thank you God!!!

My Wheelbarrow...

My sister looked at my flower filled wheelbarrow and said "what a waste of a good wheelbarrow!"
This wheelbarrow had a large crack the length of the bottom.  I put duct tape on it and filled it with miracle grow soil, then planted the pink petunias in it.  I see it several times a day and it brings a smile to my day each time.  Sis, I disagree...what a wonderful way to recycle a "cracked" wheelbarrow!  What "special" flower containers have you discovered?  Or might you find perfect for your flowers?
I can wheel it anywhere in my yard!
The butterflies love the petunias!!!

This is my first Blog!

Hi!
This is my first blog so bear with me as I learn how to blog!  I have several friends who blog so I am joining with them to investigate this trend.
Just a bit about me: I have 5 adult sons, 4 daughter in laws, and 7 grandchildren.  We all live in the same area of WV.  I live out in the country surrounded by beautiful trees, and wildlife.  One son lives within hollering distance, on a small farm.
I LOVE to knit, make decorated cookies, and scrapbook when I am not busy with grandchildren.
I LOVE to help others as I can, especially by using my knitting and cookie making.
I LOVE The Lord and strive to be the person I was created to be, however that is a never ending struggle, and work in progress.
I HOPE through this blog to share ideas and finished projects with you and to give helpful hints for living a better life.  Hopefully you will share with me what works for you!
